This weeks wake-up album goes to tUnE-yArDs, BiRd-BrAiNs. A friend recommended this to me, said it was like MIA, and two years later I find in my pile of CD’s so I decide to give the whole album a second run this time. It is not like MIA, at all, but this friend of mine does a lot of drugs and lives on the west coast so we’ll give him break.

Not my typical waking up and getting ready for the day beats but I enjoyed it. It was pleasant to say the least. Well, the first half anyways. It’s more of a riding-your-bike-along-Lakeshore-on-a-summer-day-setting. The first few songs are great, and I wasn’t sure about the little kid talking in between songs but he/she grew on me. After about four or  five songs, it gets way to folksy for me.

Worth checking out: Yes if you like experimental beats and new folk.
